What's New at School

November 14, 2019

DAYTON–High school had a relieving break last week as conference time came around.

With a four-day weekend, and two early release days, the week seemed to go by like a breeze. Despite the stress which conferences can bring, the students had some fun events to look forward to, as well as the much-needed break.

Just as any other year would go, the school celebrated the upcoming Veterans Day holiday with a school-wide assembly including all grades from K-12. High school Associated Student Body (ASB) officers spoke, and presented speakers out of our community whom have served in the military in the past. The veterans who spoke at the assembly told stories of their service, experiences, and life after their time serving, and even took the time to answer any questions of the curious younger students. Middle school and elementary ASB officers and students presented speeches, poems, songs, and even slideshows in honor of our veterans; along with a sing-along organized by the middle/high school band.

The Dayton High School ASB recently organized a teens-only karaoke night at The Club, held last week. A shocking amount of high school students attended, enjoying dinner and games together, and of course, karaoke. The teens spent the night singing their hearts out together in front of their fellow students. The event was a huge success, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the high school students.

D.H.S. ASB is working with The Club to create more teen involvement in The Club program. It is anticipated that there will be more fun events each month for high school students only, to come together and have a good time.
