Busy Winter at Dayton High

December 12, 2019

DAYTON-High school activities are beginning to pick up speed, as the busy winter approaches. Classes are beginning fundraising for upcoming dances to be planned. The winter sport athletes are just getting started with their busiest time of year, and clubs are starting to prepare for their big competitions to come in the next year.

The Dayton-Waitsburg (DW) winter sport season has officially kicked off. The fall sports awards banquet was held on Monday, December 9. Athletes participating in Volleyball, Football, and Fall Cheer attended, along with their parents and coaches, to recap the successful fall season. Athletes were acknowledged for their participation and hard work, and recognized for their significant actions and achievements through the fall. Leaving off on a good note to lead us into the upcoming season.

The DW basketball boys and girls started their games against St.John Endicott as their first opponent on December 3. The winning success of both Junior Varsity teams, and the hard work among the Varsity started off a great journey to come. Now only three games into the season, the athletes and coaches are already set on improvements, working hard every day, and doing what they can to make DW the best team it can be. They have high hopes and expectations for a great year.

The Dayton Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club is getting ready for the 2020 State Conference this coming April. The club is working toward raising money for the trip to state by selling hot cocoa and muffins to their peers in the high school commons in the mornings during the week. Club members are currently at work on their Business Achievement Awards program in the classroom, and are starting to decide what they will compete in at regionals, and the state conference.
