With late-winter temperatures and a brisk, chilly wind whistling through still-bare branches, the Dayton-Waitsburg Track and Field Team held its first workout of the season Monday indoors to be able to survive not only the cold temperatures, but also forestall any injuries as the team works on conditioning. About 20 were in workouts under Head Coach Dan Nechodom as they prepared for the first 2020 meet, the WindBreaker Invitational at Wahluke High School on Friday, March 20. Assistant coaches are Tracy Pearson and Kelley Wolther.

The Dayton-Waitsburg Track and Field team will be led by these returning lettermen, Trista Villaro and Kirsten Miller. Both are sprinters, with the sophomore Villaro starting her second campaign, and Miller, a senior, looking to make her fourth consecutive appearance at the State Track Meet in May. Last Year, Miller reached state in the 300 hurdles, finishing fifth. Both were members of the 4x100 and 4x200 relays last year.
