What's New at School?

September 17, 2020

DAYTON-School has been in session for two weeks now, and things are looking good. In the beginning, there seemed to have been a lot of uncertainty from many students, parents, and even teachers about this school year, but so far getting accustomed to high school with “the new normal” is going much smoother than some may have anticipated.

Getting used to the new class system–where class periods switch off every other day, was a concern for many students. After attending seven classes a day for many years, it was a huge change. Thankfully, the transition has been much smoother than expected, although keeping track of homework may have taken more time to figure out for some students, overall, the high school has responded very well to the new system.

Some teachers expected to see students not complying with the mandatory mask wearing and social distancing policies, but to their delight, there have been very few instances of teachers having to play what some call “the mask police”.

The new class time expectations have been very well received by the students, which makes in-person learning that much more possible. The school and students hope to continue this way, and to make the most of unfortunate circumstances for a fun and fulfilling school year.
