Levees being cleared of woody debris

Columbia County equipment was giving the Touchet River channel through Dayton's downtown area some attention this week. County track hoes were working in the river, clearing woody debris from along the river banks upstream of the Main Street Bridge, according to County Engineer Chuck Eaton. The work clearing the trees and undergrowth from the river levees is being conducted under the City of Dayton's permit through the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
