Veterans Day

November 19, 2020

A good-sized group of veterans and local folks who support those who have served turned out November 11 for the 2020 American Legion Veterans Day Breakfast. Usually held at the Legion's Post on Clay Street, this year the local Eagles Aerie offered its more-spacious facility to enable the event under COVID-19 rules. One of the tables was this foursome of veterans and a spouse: from left, Sue Bell, Wayne Bell, Terry Nealey and Eric Thorn. All three served in the U.S. Army, Bell's duty taking him to Germany; Nealey served as an officer after completing ROTC at Washington State University; and Thorn, a friend of Nealey's who played a role in enticing the newly minted attorney to settle in Dayton, flew Chinook helicopters in Vietnam.
