Donald Powers

February 5, 1936–November 10, 2020

Donald Powers, fondly known as 'Pete', went to his Eternal Home November 10, 2020.

The sixth of seven children, he was born February 5, 1936, to Harry and Abbie (Tate) Powers in Dayton, Wash.

After graduating from Dayton High School in 1957, he proudly served in the U. S. Army, being stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He, then, worked in construction of several dams in the Pacific Northwest before dedicating 25 years to Walla Walla Road Department.

He married Nancy Jeanne Ison September 5, 1964. Three children: Joe, Kelli and Marti, joined this union. They divorced in 1978.

He met his greatest love, Greta Hassler, in 2002. They enjoyed retirement years attending 'Big Five Rodeos', parades and dancing (especially two-stepping) with friends.

Special times were with the family at 'Jam-sessions', playing guitar and/or fiddle when nieces or nephews would request "Orange Blossom Special".

He is survived by sons Joe (Sandy) and Marti (Jody); daughter Kelli; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Ilene (Norman) Beasley; companion/partner Greta Hassler; sisters-in-law Martha and Zella; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Dale, Marion and Vernon; and sisters Naomi Stephens and Margie Reilly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

"R.I.P., Pete!"
