WALLA WALLA–Virtual informational meetings to review the 2021 grant guidelines are scheduled for Wednesday, January 13 at 1 p.m. and Thursday, January 14 at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required and available at sherwoodtrust.org. It is not necessary to attend both, as each will present same information.

Guidelines and schedules for Sherwood Trust 2021 grant opportunities are now available at http://www.sherwoodtrust.org. The Guidelines include details and eligibility requirements for approximately $1 million in grants to be awarded to Walla Walla Valley nonprofits and community organizations this year, according to CEO Brian Hunt.

“We look forward to 2021 grants,” said Sherwood Trust Board President Chuck Fulton. “We know the impacts of the pandemic continue to be a significant challenge across our region,” he said. “And we know our nonprofit community is responding with innovative and collaborative work to serve people’s needs and strengthen our communities.”

Sherwood Trust’s focus is nonprofit and community organizations in Columbia and Walla Walla counties in Washington and the Milton-Freewater area in Oregon.

Sherwood Trust’s annual competitive grantmaking programs include Core and Impact Grants. It also administers invitational grants to preselected entities based on the Sherwoods’ lifetime of giving or specific collaborative community initiatives.

Core Grants are traditionally the majority of funding in a given year. These proposals seek to invest in an organization’s most important priority, may be multi-year commitments, and generally include capital projects, capacity-building initiatives or community-focused projects. Core grants are announced in June.

Impact Grants–now twice annually––are designed to support smaller-budget projects or initiatives that advance Sherwood Trust’s mission of everyone in the Walla Walla Valley having a sense of belonging and contributing to a thriving region. Impact grants are announced in April and November.

Sherwood Trust is a private foundation that supports resilient nonprofits and community organizations to ensure that everyone in the Walla Walla Valley has a sense of belonging and contributes to a thriving region. Established to honor the legacy and dedication of Donald and Virginia Sherwood, who spent their lives contributing to make the Walla Walla Valley a better place to live, Sherwood Trust has granted more than $33 million here since it was founded in 1991.
