DAYTON- Valentine's Day finally made its way around this year, and Dayton High School celebrated the holiday of love together Friday, February 12. To start the day, Associated Student Body (ASB) officers handed out heart-shaped cookies in the commons area to their peers and teachers, before classes began. They had also decorated the commons area in all sorts of Valentine's Day decorations, from paper hearts to red tinsel curtains. The day ended with everyone receiving their valentine envelopes, filled with candy grams and other treats from their friends, teachers, and high school clubs.

Each and every envelope included a candy gram this year, as a generous parent purchased one for every single middle and high school student. Some even received roses from their peers, which were made available along with the candy grams by the ASB. Holidays are always a good opportunity for the ASB to give their fellow students a little bit of fun, and they never pass up the chance.

To make the ending of the week even more special, schools were given a four-day weekend, with Monday and Tuesday off of school for President's Day, and an additional snow day.

With the sudden appearance of snow hitting our town, the school, parents and students have been waiting each day to see if a last-minute day off is needed. While it has not been needed yet due to the long weekend, the high school is prepared to switch to remote learning for the day, to prevent extending the school year any longer.
