Dayton Waitsburg Volleyball dove into its covid season last week, and is in the hunt for its first win following losses to Kittitas and TriCities Prep. The team is adjusting and gelling in games so far, according to Head Coach Tracy Barron. Senior outside hitter Sadie Seney makes a good receive in the TriCities Prep loss while libero Abbigail Paolino stands by.

DAYTON–A hard-hitting TriCities Prep team handed Dayton-Waitsburg Volleyball a loss last week as the squad looks for its first win of the season.

DW hosts River View at noon on Saturday, March 6 before traveling to Columbia-Burbank Tuesday, March 9. TriCities Prep visits the DW home court Thursday, March 11.

The team faced the Lady Jaguars in a three-set loss at Pasco last Friday, falling 12-25, 19-25, 13-25.

"TCP hit harder than any team we have played to date," said Head Coach Tracy Barron. "I'm really proud of how we adjusted and fought back."

Sadie Seney stood out with four digs, five blocks and four kills with teammates Claudia Benavides, Makenna Barron and Katherine Houchin counting numerous digs due to TCP's hard-hitting offense.

Benavides counted six digs, three kills and a pair of aces. Barron came up with five digs and three blocks, and Houchin made two digs and one kill.

In Dayton-Waitsburg's loss to Kittitas here last Thursday, DW was competitive and challenged the Lady Coyotes, holding the lead several times, but falling short in the end game.

"This group of girls is starting to really come together as a team," Barron said. "They are becoming more comfortable playing on the court together."

Kittitas prevailed 18-25, 17-25, 21-25.

Seney led with six blocks, with Houchin counting three. Seney and Houchin both added a kill, an assist and nailed two ace serves. Benavides hammered two kills, made a pair of digs and served two aces.
