Dayton-Waitsburg golfer Jay Dimak missed a long putt by a fraction of an inch on the ninth hole while playing in the golf match here last week. Dimak finished in 12th with a 119 score out of a field of 18.
DAYTON–Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack Golf hosted a match here Wednesday, April 21, and Pack golfers Teagen Larsen and Caleb Barron represented the school well, finishing third and sixth, respectively.
The final match of the season was played Tuesday at Suncadia Golf Course in Cle Elem, Wash., a match which will set places of this season's top golfers who competed under truncated covid circumstances. Results from the championships will be published next week.
Larsen, a senior DW golfer, carded 114 to finish in third behind Shalee Hocker of Liberty Christian with 103 and Abigail Hodges of TriCities Prep, whose 89 was the best out of the field of 10 women golfers.
On the boy's side, DW's Caleb Barron shot a 108 for that sixth-place finish, one stroke away from tying Liberty Christian's Aiden Medina with 107.
The top boy's golfer was Will Neylon of Columbia-Burbank, whose 92 was the best of the 18-golfer field. It was tight as TriCities Prep's Steele Shumway was breathing down Neylon's neck, shooting a 93, with two golfers, Goldendale's Jackson Large and TriCities Prep's Delton Bonds tying for third at 94.
Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack golfers Jay Dimak and Garrett Palmer were further back in the field of 18. Dimak carded a 119 for tenth place, and Palmer tied for twelfth with Simon Myers of Riverside Christian.
On the women's side, Lilly Bone shot a 146 for eighth place in a field of 10.
