A River View guard driving the key didn't have much luck as Dayton-Waitsburg's Sean Evans made a clean block of this shot in DW's 60-25 win over the Panthers this week. DW is 5-3 this season with two more games remaining in the regular-covid season.

DAYTON–Three! Three! Three!

Dayton-Waitsburg junior guard Dylan Bledsoe had the hot hand Tuesday, draining four of the big baskets in DW's 60-25 drubbing of River View here.

The Wolfpack, under Head Coach Roy Ramirez, is now 5-3 on the season with an away game tonight at Tri-Cities Prep, June 10, and the final home game and Senior Night versus Columbia Friday, May 11 at the Dayton Gym.

Bledsoe and senior teammate Mason Finney, with 14, counted for half of DW's 60 points in a game which saw every player counting something in the scorebook.

The junior sharpshooter's numbers helped the team's three-ball percentage at 44%, hitting six of 13. And Finney exploded with four baskets in the second quarter and hit a bucket and a trey in the third to keep the Panthers off balance.

Wolfpack's Colton Vanblaricom and Monte Pettichord, a senior and junior, respectively, each scored seven.

DW jumped to an early 8-0 lead before River View called time and regrouped, finishing the quarter 11-7. Then the Finney and VanBlaricom show came to town while the Panthers couldn't buy a bucket in the 15-2 second quarter, the halftime spread at 25-9.

It was downhill the rest of the way for Dayton-Waitsburg, the team counting 16 in the third. Bledsoe nailed two of his three-pointers; Wyatt Costello found the range with a pair of field goals and Finney obliged with a three, a bucket and a free throw.

Not quite coasting in the fourth quarter, DW had its biggest scoring output as other players kept the defense distracted from Bledsoe, who added a trey, a basket and two gifters. Pettichord was also prolific, hitting a three, a two and a one-pointer. Benny Bryan and Ryland Kilts each made a bucket.

At Mabton on June 1, Finney again rocketed scoring in the second quarter, making four field goals, a trey and two free throws to pull the Wolfpack back into the game.

The Vikings jumped to a 21-13 lead on the strength of Andy McCallum's four, count 'em, four three pointers-four of the six he would make in the game.

But DW rallied back to within two points at half, 38-36, thanks to Finney and buckets from Evans, Pettichord, Costello and Lindley. The team spread scoring around, keeping the Vikings off balance in the third, which Mabton won 14-13, setting up the fourth-quarter showdown.

In that stanza, Vanblaricom hit a pair of buckets and drained a three; Evans had two baskets and Costello followed suit with two of his own. But the effort fell short as the Vikings made 23 trips to the free throw line, making nine, in the fourth quarter alone. McCallum also sank two long balls to finish his total.

McCallum was game high player with 25 and Finney was runner up with 19.
