Releasing “Hera the Hawk” was a bittersweet good-bye. Dayton resident and apprentice falconer Anne Dowdy will be returning Hera, a Red-tailed hawk, back into the wild. The hawk was hit by a semi-truck outside of Pendleton in December, 2009. During this time, Dowdy had just passed the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife test to become an apprentice falconer....
