DAYTON–Firefighting equipment from Columbia County Districts 1 and 3 responded to a report of a field fire at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 17, on the ridge above the intersection of State Route 261 and Highway 12.

The fire was apparently started by a hunter, according to District 3 Chief Jeromy Phinney.

It rekindled early the next morning and firefighters were dispatched at 5:45 a.m. to extinguish the fire.
