Boooo! Local establishments readying for Trick or Treating

Trick or treaters beware when you're near 126 W. Brooklyn Avenue! There's Lurch and the Grim Reaper! A top-hatted skeleton driving a hearse drawn by a white-boned steed with a pale, bleached occupant lying in back. Ghosts and headstones, creepy clowns and singing jack o'lanterns in the windows all throb to the beat of music emanating from the residence of Terry Bartlett here in Dayton. Bartlett gets a kick out of the Halloween holiday with a syncopated light show and lots of ghoulish additions to the front lawn. Check it out evenings until 10 p.m.!
DAYTON–Trick or Treaters out on Halloween shouldn’t have much trouble finding sweets and goodies in Our Fair City.
The excitement toward Sunday, October 31 and Official Halloween begins on Friday in Dayton. Columbia County Health System is inviting Halloween Trick or Treaters to visit the Dayton General Hospital Campus on Friday, October 29, from 3-5 p.m., for treats.
Children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to start at the Administration Building and walk to Booker Rest Home to trick-or-treat outside the residents’ windows.
The Wenaha Gallery is giving out trick or treat bags to trick or treaters Friday, October 29. The gallery invites trick or treaters, costumed or not, to stop into the gallery anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up a special treat bag – no tricks involved. Framer Savonnah has created bags of chocolate and sweet treats that she is ready to hand out as soon as Trick or Treaters walk through the door.
When Sunday, October 31 rolls around, Trick or Treaters can venture downtown for the traditional Trick or Treat Main Street, sponsored by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce and local Chamber member businesses.
Families can partake of the drive-through Trick Or Treat Main Street in the parking lot behind Dingle’s of Dayton, where Chamber volunteers will be on hand to distribute bags of Halloween candy to youngsters between 3-5 p.m.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) will again Trick or Treat local children at the Columbia County Courthouse on Sunday, October 31 at 3-5:30 p.m.
CCSO will be trick or treating all the little ghouls and goblins in the neighborhood on the Courthouse front lawn. Joining the festivities are Fire District No. 3 serving hotdogs and volunteers Liz Quigg and Vicki Zoller with fun activities.
The Dayton Chronicle will be open for Trick or Treaters between 3-5 p.m. on Halloween for the newspaper’s annual “TRICKS and PIX.” Stop by the office at 163 E. Main Street (Next door to Dingle’s of Dayton) for something sweet and to have your photo taken in your Halloween costume. Photos will be published in the following week’s edition.
Some residences around town are decked out befitting the frightening holiday. For an equally spooky experience, pay a visit to Crooked Fences Halloween Garden, dusk to 10 p.m., 1401 S. 5th St.
