November 25, 2021

DAYTON–A late-night November 21 burglary of the Moose Creek Café & Bakery, 330 E. Main Street, is under investigation by Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

An employee of the bakery discovered the burglary at 6:23 a.m. Sunday morning when the back doors were discovered to be kicked in. A cash drawer with an estimated $200 in cash was reported to have been taken.

A Columbia County resident traveling on the Upper Hogeye Road noticed a cash drawn apparently discarded alongside the road. The resident took a photo of it and Aimee McGuire, manager of Moose Creek, positively identified the item as coming from the bakery, the Sheriff’s Office report indicated.

The investigation is continuing.
