Dayton-Waitsburg Golf Team players Lucas VanHoose, left, and Cayle Davis, make putts on their short game during last week's match at Walla Walla's Veterans Memorial. VanHoose carded a 69 in the match with Davis shooting a 55.

WALLA WALLA–Spring Vacation took a bite out of the Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack Golf Team here March 31, but DW golfers Caleb Barron and Cayle Davis were the top players on the team in the nine-hole, par 36 match.

"We were short a few golfers today as some were on vacation," commented Coach Mike McGhan.

Golf matches resume April 13 at Pasco's Sun Willows links. The March 31 match at Dayton was canceled.

Leading the Wolfpack was Caleb Barron, who carded a 53. He was followed closely by Cayle Davis with 55.

"Veterans can be unforgiving if you miss the fairways and that is where we lost strokes," McGhan said. "As a team, we are continuing to improve around the greens."

Theo Anderson scored a 61, Garrett Palmer came in at 67 and Lucas VanHoose carded a 69.

"Lucas's performance was noteworthy today," McGhan said. "He started with four very rough holes but got his game together on the final five holes to finish with his best score this year."
