Wolfpack track competed at a weather-shortened meet last week, and discus thrower Chasity Paddock had a personal record throw of 36-04 for 21st place.

BURBANK–Mother Nature dealt nine high school track and field teams a bad hand here April 20, but some events were finished before the meet was called on account of weather.

Wolfpack high jumper Vaughn Walter set a new personal record and finished second in the event, clearing 5-4 for the boys, and Marion Duncan also set a personal record in the 400m. with a time of 1:24.81.

"Our previous week's meet was canceled due to winter weather, so it was great to get back out and compete," observed Head Coach Dan Nechodom. "And it was our first time facing only our league schools. A lot of athletes were interested to see how they'd stack up against just their peers instead of schools with senior classes larger than our school districts!"

"We had several more great PRs," Nechodom said, "and it was especially nice to see Kaydance Tiner realize she could launch a discus!

"Vaughn Walter, after getting a new PR by several inches, said the official at the high jump told him he had a smooth jump, but pointed out a number of things he needs to fix," Nechodom said. Walter was pleased to hear that, according to the coach "That means I've got plenty of room to grow!" Walter said.

Julia Brooks took seventh place in the 100m. Int. Hurdles with a time of 24.16, and Tiner reached a PR with a long jump of 11-10½.

Tony Halvorson came in eighth in the 1600m. run, clocking in at 5:55.09, and Walter finished tenth in the javelin with a 102-5 throw.

The team was in a league meet at River View on April 26 and looks to the Undeberg Invitational in Ritzville on Saturday.
