DAYTON–Our Fair City's favorite–and only–thrift store, All Saints Thrift Store, is a cornerstone in the community for the support it gives and receives. All Saints recently made a (gulp) $20,000 donation to another worthy cause in the community, Project Timothy.

Project Timothy is a volunteer-based organization which serves the communities of Dayton, Starbuck and Waitsburg, providing financial assistance for emergency housing, food, rent assistance, utilities, transportation and prescriptions to families in need.

"We at All Saints Thrift Store have been blessed and want the money to stay in our community," said Terri Schlachter, All Saints Manager. "All the donations of items that come in are for a reason. We are here for our community and we want to help our community."

Project Timothy's office is housed within the All Saints store.

Project Timothy volunteers spend approximately 50 hours per month meeting with people who apply for assistance and 150 hours per month working in the store. Board members also put in approximately 50 hours per month of donated time. Two people are on call 24 hours a day with the Sheriff's Department to provide assistance when a need arises.

To offer this assistance, Project Timothy relies on private donations and partners area service agencies such as the Blue Mountain Action Council (BMAC) in Walla Walla and Catholic Charities.

Project Timothy was established in 1990 by Father Paul Wood.
