Receiver asks court to cut loose Columbia Pulp's downtown offices

SEATTLE–The receiver of Columbia Pulp I, LLC is seeking a court order to reject a lease of Columbia Pulp I, LLC’s (CPI) Main Street offices in Dayton and abandon the property. The action will be heard in the courtroom of the Honorable Douglass A. North on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Seattle.

Receiver Lance Miller of Paladin Management Group, LLC, filed a motion in King County Superior Court on May 25 asking that the lease on CPI’s 115 East Main Street offices be broken and the property abandoned as of May 31, 2022.

The building is owned by NW Straw Pulp, LLC. The limited liability company lists its principal office address at 14001 SE 1st Street, Suite 201, Vancouver, Wash. The registered agent’s name is Baker & Hostetler, LLP, of Seattle.

The Receiver also intends to abandon certain office furniture and equipment within the building as it may be deemed “of inconsequential value or benefit to the estate.”


According to state law, a Receiver may reject unexpired leases, with a court order.

Miller informed CPI of the intent to reject the lease and cause CPI to vacate the premises on May 10, 2022, by contacting James Hensel, who is named as a governor of NW Straw Pulp, LLC.

UMB Bank, N.A. is the trustee for bonds issued by the Washington Economic Development Finance Authority between August, 2017 and June, 2021, and filed a complaint earlier this year asking that CPI be placed in receivership due to CPI’s alleged failure to make payments when due.
