Flavor of Faith

October 13, 2022

Taste refers to experiencing flavor. A certain taste of fried chicken can put us back at the dinner table when we were eight years old. The Lord appeals to our sense of taste in our having a relationship with Him. The Bible says, "O taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man that trusts in Him" Ps. 34:8.

His Word is described as "sweeter than honey" Ps. 119:103. Everyone tastes of God's loving kindness even if we don't recognize it. We are all recipients of daily blessings. We all share in the gift of creation. The Bible says, "He has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy" Acts. 14:17. The daily blessings we enjoy are God's testimony to us of His love and goodness!

The flavor of His goodness is an invitation to us for more. We can love Him! Through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus, God calls us to a daily relationship with Him that satisfies our hearts and provides meaning and purpose to our daily life. Through Christ Jesus we are forgiven. By God's mercy we are accepted. The taste of His love grows richer with each passing day!
