POMEROY––Dayton-Waitsburg's Lady Wolfpack ran into a stronger Lady Pirate crew and floundered in single-digit scoring, dropping a non-league game 65-21 here December 29. Dayton-Waitsburg is 1-4 overall, 0-1 in league.

River View comes to Dayton Friday for the first of five league contests, opening tip off at 6 p.m. Saturday night the Lady Wolfpack hits the road to Walla Walla Valley Academy for another conference game, also with a 6 p.m. start.

Dayton-Waitsburg was stymied to scoring in single digits in all four quarters by the Lady Pirates. Peyton Benavides was the top DW scorer with nine points, Teagan Culley followed with five, and Marissa Tupling scored three.

In the first period, Pomeroy sailed away to a 16-5 lead, and the Lady Buccaneers kept up the scoring in the second quarter to lead 33-11 at half time, the Lady Wolfpack only managing six points in the second quarter. In the third, DW scored seven and finished with three points in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Wolfpack defense didn't have an answer for Lady Pirate Jillian Herres, who scored 26, hitting 11 of 19 field goals and three free throws.
