Under the direction of School Music Instructor Amy Gillick, the Dayton's Junior and Senior high school bands traveled to Idaho to compete in the Music in the Parks Music Festival at the High School there on Saturday, May 20.

Dayton Middle School placed first in their division and Dayton High School placed second. They were joined by schools from Montana, Idaho, and Eastern and Western Wash., all performing for placement.

Students spent the afternoon enjoying the Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho, as a part of their extended music festival experience.

Bands from Dayton School District No. 2 previously competed in the festival between 2015-18. This was the students' first year back after covid shutdowns and other limitations interrupted their participation.
