Columbia County Parks and Recreation was awarded a $1,000 grant from the Pacific Power Foundation in September, 2023, to go toward materials used in the installation of underground irrigation at the Touchet Valley Golf Course. The check was presented by Tyler Huff, Parks and Rec Dept. supervisor, to Sean Thurston, treasurer of the Touchet Valley Golf and Rec, a nonprofit organization which has spearheaded the $774,000 irrigation project. Work is set to resume this spring and complete the underground irrigation system. The reservoir is completed along with underground irrigation on holes two, six and part of five, Thurston says.
