In February, 1929, a devastating fire engulfed the Budde Block at 1st and Main, doing about $20,000 in damage to stock and about $10,000 in damage to the structure. By September, Bert Dingle and his brother Hedley Dingle were back in business with a rebuilt store that is what can be seen today.
