You wouldn't want to be standing right over there at that instant-or else you'd be one toasted marshmallow! During last week's thunderstorm, the Chronicle lens was out and about, and as luck would have it, captured this ground strike in the western part of the county. Thankfully the system was primarily sheet lightning, with some bolts going to ground like this, and no local fires were reported.
