Dingle's of Dayton burglarized

DAYTON–Historic hardware store Dingle's of Dayton was broken into in the early morning hours of March 3, and an estimated two dozen pocket knives and one flashlight were taken, store owner Mindy Betzler reported to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Access was gained by the burglar or burglars, through the business's back door of the 179 E. Main Street business, which is in its 100th year.

As of Tuesday morning, an exact count and value of merchandise taken was not known, Betzler said.

Except for a flashlight, no other products were disturbed or taken, she said.

The sheriff's office is investigating.
