Port switches Broadband Informational Meeting to Special Meeting

August 27, 2020

DAYTON–The Port of Columbia Commissioners shifted a Broadband Informational Meeting set for 6 p.m., Monday, August 31, to a Special Meeting, the Port of Columbia announced recently.

Port Commissioners were set to hear information about the Port's plans to construct "fiber-to-the-home" in Dayton. Information from officials from Lincoln and Garfield counties, in addition to a Feasibility Study Presentation and information about use of broadband in agriculture, were on the agenda.

Following the informational presentations, the Port Commission opted to consider a draft resolution supporting a grant application the Port plans to submit September 9.

For formal action to be taken in the meeting, the Port of Columbia had to restructure the event as a Special Meeting.
