Adapting for the pandemic, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce held a virtual Brix & Brew fund-raising event last Friday, selling tickets and providing participants with delicious appetizers and libations to enhance the festive experience, that, although not in person, was received and enjoyed by dozens of community-minded people. The event raised around $25,000 for the Chamber of Commerce. DAYTON–All things considered, the 2020 Brix & Brew Fundraiser was a success for the Chamber of Commerce.

The event, which is usually held in March but was postponed due to the coronavirus, enjoyed ticket sales over 90, and the live and silent auctions, held virtually, involved some 30-35 participants out of about 120 bidders, according to Molly Weatherill-Tate, Chamber Manager.

Brix & Brew gathered in around $25,000, in spite of the pandemic, Weatherill-Tate said.

"That's pretty good," she said. "For a COVID year, that's actually excellent."

Weatherill-Tate said the committee and Chamber appreciated the community support that provided the funding to the Chamber.

The Fall Awards Banquet will probably not occur, Weatherill-Tate said, although Chamber Community Awards will probably be presented virtually. Information regarding community nominations for the awards will be published in the future. Nomination forms are available on the Chamber website and can be submitted at any time, Weatherill-Tate said.
