Jean Elizabeth Felts Jones died November 3, 2020 at the age of 94 in Dayton, Wash., were she had lived since 1953.

Jean was born on May 12, 1926 at her grandparents’ home in Farmington, Wash., where she spent her childhood living on the farm, playing with her sister Shirley and attending school in a one-room schoolhouse. As a young woman, she moved to Spokane where she met Paul Jones whom she later married.

They moved to Honolulu, Hi., were Paul was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a member of the coast guard. Robert (2-5-47) and Ron (5-20-48) were both born in Honolulu; Wendy (8-23-49) was born in Wisconsin, and Vicki was born on 6-27-51, back in Honolulu.

In 1953 Jean moved to Dayton to raise her four children, living next door to her sister Shirley Leseman and her three boys. There are many fun and memorable stories about the antics of the seven cousins.

Jean worked many years for Green Giant in Dayton and Waitsburg in the payroll department later working in the seed warehouse through retirement. Jean drove for many years, although never a licensed driver. Later walking thousands of miles all over the town of Dayton. Sometimes on the street to avoid uneven sidewalks.

She loved reading, gardening, crocheting, sewing and playing cards. The family enjoyed many a game of gin rummy over the years.

Jean was fortunate enough to have eight grandkids. She helped raise Stephanie while Vicki attended college and babysat all of them many times.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Gladys Felts Manning and Clearance Felts; sister Shirley Leseman; and grandson Rory Towers.

Jean is survived by her four children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Donna (John) Meade and brother Charles (Carol) Felts and son-in-law John (Wendy) Towers.
