AT THE THEATER

March 25, 2021

Nomadland, a 2020 drama, encapsulates the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, which spurs Fern (Frances McDormand) to pack her van and set off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. Nomadland features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West. Some reviewers describe this as a melancholy depiction of American society that is "fraying at the edges".

"Nomadland takes you somewhere you've never been, introduces you to marvelous people you knew little or nothing about, and leaves you full of feelings you may not have known you had, but glad to have taken the journey and changed by it" (The Wall Street Journal). This is the third movie directed by Chloe Zhao.

The movie Nomadland shows March 26, 27, 28 and 30 and is rated R for some full nudity, with a runtime of 108 minutes. Rotten Tomatoes rates this as 94% favorable and the audience score is 80%. Tickets can be purchased on the Theater website and a very limited number available at the door.

Physical distancing is a priority and masks must be worn at all times covering the nose and mouth. Although we are now in Phase 3 and theoretically are allowed to open to 50% capacity, the distancing requirement between groups limits the theater seating to about 25% capacity. Your cooperation is appreciated.
