Dayton/Columbia County fund announces 2021 grant awards

DAYTON–The Dayton/Columbia County Washington Fund 2021 grant totaling $50,700 to support local organizations serving the area were awarded as follows.

• Blue Mountain Heritage Society received $2,000.00 to Relocate the Palus Museum/Columbia County Veterans display to a new structure;

• Blue Mountain Heritage Society received $1,000.00 for Green Giant maintenance and upkeep;

• Blue Mountain Resource Conservation & Development Council received $4,000.00 for Starbuck City Hall;

• Columbia County Community Network received $3,000.00 for an exhaust vent for the Columbia County Fairgrounds Youth Building;

• Dayton Development Task Force received $2,500.00 for golf course & fairgrounds wayfinding signage;

• Friends of Dayton Memorial Library received $500.00 for general support;

• Friends of the Touchet Valley Golf Course received $7,500.00 for the Touchet Valley Golf Course Irrigation Reservoir project;

• Junior Achievement of Washington - Southeastern Region received $1,700.00 to support educational courses in Columbia County;

• Port of Columbia received $13,500.00 for the Dayton Community Broadband Internet Project;

• Project Timothy of Dayton received $5,000.00 for general support to benefit Columbia County residents;

• The Club received $10,000.00 for summer programming.

Additionally, $21,000 in scholarships were awarded to Morgan Boggs, Mackena Culley, Anna Fortier, Cassidy Laughery, Lindsey Newhouse, Sadie Seney and Glen Smith.

Individuals inclined to support Columbia County organizations and students are encouraged to participate in this fund through donations and bequests. Donations may be mailed to PO Box 603, Walla Walla, WA 99362 attention Dayton/Columbia County WA Fund.
