DAYTON–DW Wolfpack Boys Basketball finished the season 6-4 and in second place in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference East Division, following Columbia-Burbank, East No. 1, which defeated DW 80-44 in the final game of the covid-shortened season last Friday.

Dayton-Waitsburg faced West No. 3 Kittitas on the D.H.S. court in the 2021 EWAC District Tournament Wednesday, June 16.

The tournament specifies that all teams will play a minimum of two games with winners of the first round playing three games and finishing 1-4. The tournament's initial games were played on the court of the higher seed.

Should DW win, the team would play the winner of the game between Cle Elum West No. 1 and Mabton, East No. 4, played at Cle Elum Wednesday. Since the game would be played at the higher seed, it would be at Cle Elum at a time to be determined Thursday, June 17.

Should DW lose, it would play the loser of the Cle Elum-Mabton Game in Dayton at a time to be determined on Thursday, June 17.

Teams that win the first and second rounds play in the third round Friday, June 18, at the location of the higher seed and at a time to be announced. Teams that win the first game of the tournament will finish in the first four places.

The Columbia Coyotes were carried by Dom Percifield's five three-point shots and game-high 23 points as they won 80-44 over DW in the final regular-season game.

Dayton-Waitsburg saw three players in double figures. Dylan Bledsoe and Mason Finney both scored 12 and Shawn Evans pumped in 10 points. Bledsoe drained a pair of three pointers and Finney nailed one in the second quarter.

The Coyotes jumped to a nine-point lead after the first quarter, then the Wolfpack hung with them in the second quarter, scoring 13 to CB's 14 and a halftime score of 33-23.

The third quarter was decisive as DW had no answer for not only Percifield with a couple threes and two field goals, but teammates Peja Kinsey and Michael Lanke also hitting treys. Five Coyotes were in scoring columns while their defense kept the Wolfpack at 11 points scattered among Bledsoe, Finney, Evans and VanBlaricom.

Columbia continued its roll with 21 fourth-quarter points to DW's 10.
