Faithfully keeping the spirits of both fans and basketball players up and energized was done well by the Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack Cheer Squad, shown here during a game in the recently completed season. WAITSBURG–Student-athletes of the Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack basketball teams and cheer squad will be recognized at the "Winter" Sports Banquet here tonight, Thursday, July 1. The banquet starts at 6 p.m. in the Waitsburg Elementary Multi-Purpose Room.

Members of the boys and girls basketball teams will be honored for their efforts and participation in the recently completed covid basketball season.

The DW Wolfpack Boys finished the season in fourth in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference league playoffs after kicking the eight-team tourney off with a 50-38 win over Kittitas on the home court, then dropping the quarterfinal at Cle Elum 62-37 and losing the consolation final to White Swan 56-36, on the floor at Dayton. DW was coached by Roy Ramirez, with assistants Terry Bartlett and Colby Starring.

The Lady Wolfpack's season was cut short with two games remaining due to a player testing positive for coronavirus. The girls were coached by Tamira Culley, assisted by Desirae Jones.
