Wolfpack competes at Ritzville Jamboree

RITZVILLE–The Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack Football program traveled here Saturday, August 28, for a jamboree, playing ten plays against teams from Lind-Ritzville-Sprague/Washtucna, Colfax and Davenport.

"There is not much to report," says Head Coach Troy Larsen.

"There are no stats from the jamboree; we just run through a variety of plays to see what is working and what we need to work on," he said. Then teams switch and will play 10 plays of defense against another school.

"We played a total of 20 offense plays and 20 defensive plays on both the varsity and junior varsity teams," Larsen said. "Out of the 32 players, we have 10 returning from last year so we are very young and not a lot of experience so the jamboree was a chance to get exposed to a game-like environment, yet controlled since the coaches are out on the field helping them out.

"The good news is we escaped without any injuries, and with a little experience we believe our student athletes will understand better what we are asking for out of them in practice," Larsen said.

The season starts on Friday, September 10 against Lake Roosevelt, played at Coulee Dam. Kickoff will be 7 p.m.
