Laura Aukerman is a candidate for Dayton City Council Position 1 and has no previous elected experience. Information is from the Voter's Pamphlet.

Other Professional Experience: After 30 years in the Nuclear Industry, I am highly trained in emergency response and protection of people and property which has given me the skills to prepare for the expected and react accordingly to the unexpected.

Education: I studied Radiation Safety at Eastern Idaho Technical College; I earned a BS in Environmental Management at American Public University and will complete my master's in public health in the Fall of 2021.

Community Service: I was a soccer coach for the AAU organization. I also volunteered as an Auditor for the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Statement: My family and I moved to Dayton almost ten years ago. Dayton is such a beautiful area with an amazing, down home, hard-working community.

I know the people of Dayton believe in our Country's founding principles. I would like to continue the path that understands that all men are created equal and possess rights that are independent of any governing body.

As a business owner, I believe Dayton's Main Street businesses should be encouraged and made a priority. Economic development will only be successful with a strong community that forms healthy relationships and mutual respect among all. We may not always agree, but there must be common ground in order to be successful. Dayton has many smart and talented people that can help develop a more robust economy, and we must all work together for that common goal.

If I am elected to City Council, I will objectively listen to the citizens of Dayton. As a member of the Columbia County Conservatives (CCC), I will conduct business based on the citizens' wants and needs that also coincide with our Country's founding conservative principles
