Pastor's Corner

Dad made sure the tires were properly inflated, the tank filled with gas, the camping gear was stowed and the kids were buckled in, but within a block from the house the trailer hitch broke and the trip was put on hold. Though we try to prepare, some things can't be planned for. We may encounter a set of circumstances that are much different from what we envisioned. Rarely are we able to determine all that will be required in certain situations. Our thorough and well thought out plans may be of very little help. Things may be murky enough that we are able to see only one step ahead.

The Bible says, "without a vision, the people perish." Instead of being frightened or withering in doubt, we do have a vision that is clear and gives confidence. The Lord is our vision. The Bible says, "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down on the right hand of the throne of God," Hebrews 12:2. Our vision gives us certainty in uncertain times. Our vision gives us peace in turmoil, comfort in sorrow, and strength when tested. Our vision is fixed. Our vision is Jesus. He is faithful at all times and in all circumstances. "In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us" (Romans 8:37).
