The miner panning for gold had a purpose in shaking the pan. He was eliminating the unnecessary that the treasure he sought would be exposed, gathered, and kept. The Lord promised a time of shaking would come to the world. Consider His word, "At that time (Moses' time) His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things–so that what cannot be shaken may remain" Hebrews 12:26-27.

The last two years have shown us how quickly things can be shaken. Worldly kingdoms have been brought to their knees by a virus. But Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and is risen from the dead. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He establishes His throne within our hearts and makes the Kingdom of His joy, love, and peace known to us continually. When all around us is shaken, God is not. "We receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken, so let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Heb. 12:28).

The Lord shakes the heavens and earth that the treasure of our faith may shine like gold as He gathers us even closer to Him. The Lord exposes the temporary that we might embrace His eternal love, glory, power, and love. In the shaking of the temporary He appeals to the heart of every man, woman, boy, and girl to seek Him, turn from our sins, receive His Son Jesus Christ into our heart by faith, and begin to build our lives on the foundation that cannot be shaken and will never pass away: Jesus Christ, the Risen Son of God, the foundation that God laid which is eternal, abiding, saving, and joyful.
