Pastor's Corner

A fellow said to his friend, "I know I should treat my wife better, but I just can't bring myself to do it". There is a stark honesty to his words. He affirmed the value of his wife while truthfully stating his fault in not honoring her value. Paul wrote "I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out" Ro. 7:18 He went on to explain "it is sin living in me that does it" Ro. 7:20.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are delivered from our inability into His ability. "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from the body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ the Lord!" Ro. 7:24-25a.

We are delivered from our weakness into His immeasurable power: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" Philippians 4:13.

Aircraft pulled along by propellers were helpful–but today we have jets empowered from within! We were pulled along by knowing what was good while our own selfish nature held us back, weighing us down and making us incapable. Christ delivers us from within. Through faith in Him we are capable. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we are strengthened with might and power.
