It's snowin' in them thar hills! Ski Bluewood is gearing up to open for the 2021-22 winter ski and riding season Friday, December 17. Lifts will start running at 9 a.m. and over the weekend and throughout the holidays, the area will be open daily with the exception of Christmas Day. Staff and guests will be required to wear facial coverings when indoors, except while eating, and outdoors in areas where people gather. Wahoooo!

DAYTON-The Bluewood 2021-22 ski season begins Friday, December 17, as the winter sports area welcomes skiers and snowboarders to the mountain for daily operations through January 2 (with the exception of Christmas Day).

"The team at Bluewood has put forth an awesome effort to prepare the hill and our facilities," said Pete Korfiatis, Bluewood's General Manager. "The recent storm delivered exactly what we needed to provide our Bluewood family of skiers and riders an amazing first trip back to the mountains."

"We hope our guests enjoy some of the new and refreshed areas we have in and around the base area, including our ticket kiosk to redeem online ticket sales, an additional point of sale in The Hub to expedite the rental process, and the reopening of the pub and summit yurt," Korfiatis said. "There will also be a new food option during the holidays and weekends at the Bluewood BBQ, where we'll be smoking our own pulled pork and tri-tip sandwiches."

On Friday, Opening Day, the lifts will start spinning at 9 a.m. Throughout the weekend and into the holidays, hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with the Skyline Express, Triple Nickel and Easy Rider conveyor lifts all scheduled to be running.

Bluewood operating schedule through the holidays: December 17-23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; December 24, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; December 26 – January 2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Starting January 5, Bluewood will be open Wednesdays through Sundays.

"Currently it's a winter wonderland at Bluewood. We hope you and your family will come and enjoy it with us. Our goal is to provide a fun, family-friendly escape where you unplug, ski, ride and enjoy the experience," Korfiatis said.

Bluewood will require staff and guests to wear a mask when indoors unless actively eating or drinking. Face coverings are also required outdoors in areas where people gather, such as lift/ticket lines. For more information about covid-19 protocols at Bluewood, go to bluewood.com/covid19.
