DW Wolfpack notches two holiday-break wins

January 6, 2022

DAYTON–Dylan Bledsoe and Monte Pettichord combined for about half of the team’s scoring in a convincing win over Mabton, one of two Christmas Break wins for the Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack and the first two wins for the program this season. The pair were team-high scorers in a win over Granger JVs a day earlier, December 28.

DW is now 2-6 overall with a road trip to Riverview next Tuesday after this week’s Tuesday game versus Garfield-Palouse was postponed due to wintery road conditions. Warden High School visits the Dayton Gym on Friday, January 14, and TriCities Prep visits Saturday as the conference schedule starts.

Mabton JV fell to the Wolfpack 62-34 on December 29 with DW putting the game in safe territory early wioth a 21-7 first quarter. The Vikings recovered in the second quarter, outscoring DW 12-8, but the Wolfpack took the 29-19 lead into the locker rooms at halftime. Mabton struggled, scoring four in the third while DW piled on 21, and then coasted in the fourth for the win.

Three Wolfpack were in double figures, Bledsoe with 19, including a trio of treys, Pettichord with 17 and one three pointer, and Ryland Kilts pumping in 13.

Pettichord led in assists and Bledsoe was top rebounder with seven.

Playing Granger JV on December 28, the Wolfpack flew to an early lead and never looked back, DW’s defense holding their opponent to single digits in all four quarters to win 62-20.

DW jumped ahead 25-4 in the first quarter and made it 38-11 by halftime, easing down the stretch with 13 in the third and 11 in the fourth.

Bledsoe and Pettichord again were top scorers, sharing team-high honors with 15 point apiece. Blake French popped in nine. Bledsoe drained five three pointers, and Pettichord, Wyaitt Booth and Keon Lindley each hit one trey.
