Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Mayer

August 4, 1949-December 20, 2021

Former Dayton resident Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Mayer died December 20, 2021, in Clarkston, Wash., of a heart attack.

He was born on August 4, 1949, in Cottonwood, Idaho, to John and Ella Dawson Mayer. The family resided in Craigmont, Id., and later Moscow, Id., then moved to Dayton.

Mayer attended school in Dayton, graduating with the Class of 1967.

After high school, Mayer was employed by the Columbia County Farm Bureau. At age 19, Mayer sustained paralyzing injuries in a car accident and learned to walk with braces.

Mayer lived most of his life in Newport, Wash. He was a car salesman for Pete Marks in Spokane.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Mayer, sister Marie Walker, brother Bud Mayer, sister Nita Presnell, sister Jean Miller and Kitty Wyss.

Mayer is survived by a daughter, Natasha Holcomb, Spokane; sister Audrey Anstine, Lewiston, Id.; and a half sister, Louise Romanelli, St. Helens, Ore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewiston Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
