The teenagers thought they were simply playing a harmless prank when they removed a stop sign from its post at a blind intersection. They did not fully consider what the outcome might be or the consequences that could follow.

Not having the protective warning available, a driver plowed into the intersection and fatalities occurred. The teenagers suffered consequences that far outreached anything they could have imagined. They also had to live the rest of their lives knowing the pain and sorrow they caused. The Lord has lovingly placed stop signs on our path.

The Bible teaches that all of His commands are given “for our own good”. Because He loves and cares about us, He has given us protective commands (not suggestions) that spare us and others so much pain. The Lord is not restricting us or limiting us from things that would enrich our lives.

Through His Word He is giving us a road map that provides us with the freedom to move on into the joy and love that He intends for us. His desire is that we experience a joyful, abundant life. Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and that you might have it abundantly.”

The Bible says “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness” 2 Pe. 1:3.

He loves us! It is vital that we trust Him, pay attention to His Word and uphold it as our guide for daily living.
