A Wonderful Promise

February 10, 2022

It’s uncomfortable wearing a lead coat when having an X ray taken. Though they are designed to protect from radiation, it is a strange feeling having such a heavy lead jacket placed on us. The Bible teaches the believer in Christ who endures trouble is given an ever increasing “weight of glory”. The original word means “a weight, a load, abundance, authority”. We are given a wonderful promise!

When we trust the Lord in enduring our troubles, He places a “weight”, a “load”, an “abundance” of His delight upon us. We wear it. It is ours. Our troubles are worth the going through. We are not short changed. They contribute to a deeper experience of knowing His favor that blesses us all the days of our lives. We are given a “weight of authority” through the power the Lord has given us to overcome. We are given quality and quantity of confidence.

Having found His grace sufficient to get through all kinds of trials, we look at life from a position of victory and we personally know the gleam of His glory that far outweighs any troubles we will ever go through. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” 2 Cor. 4:17-18.
