April 28, 1938–February 18, 2022

George William Scott (Billy Scott) passed away peacefully with family by his side in Hermiston Ore., on February 18, 2022, at the age of 83.

George was born in Dayton Wash., to William and Ida Mae Scott on April 28, 1938. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1956 and Washington State University in 1961.

He married Diane (Aylward) Scott and moved to California where he worked for Kaiser Steel as an engineer. They later moved to Bellingham where he spent the majority of his career at Intalco Aluminum. He loved working for this company and made many great memories and friends.

His great loves in life where his family, friends, traveling, crabbing and golf. He was a member of the Bellingham Golf and Country Club for over 25 years and spent over 15 years as a Snowbird in Palm Desert, Calif. He also served as a Rotary Member for many years. George loved life and loved to entertain family and friends. We were all beneficiaries of his wonderful crab feeds with fresh crab, corn, garlic bread and great wine.


George was preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Mae Scott, his first wife Diane Aylward Scott and second wife Betty Oltman Scott.

He is survived by his son Richard (Tammy) Scott, his daughter Robynn Woodbury and step-daughters Patti (Steve) McCallum, and Sharon Wharton. George is also survived by a sister Janette (Richard) Hollenback and a brother Jerry (Karla) Scott, his five grandchildren: Nicole Woodbury, Ashley Woodbury, Erica (Mitch) Mallahan, Jeff (Tricia) Wharton and Sarah (Marc) Eagles and six great–grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.


A memorial to honor George will be held in Hermiston this summer.

In his honor and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society, Greater Washington Chapter, 192 Nickerson St., No.100, Seattle WA 98109.
