Chamber's Brix & Brew fundraiser here Friday

DAYTON–How about capturing some cool stuff and giving the Dayton Chamber of Commerce a hand with supporting and boosting Dayton and Columbia County businesses? It's Brix & Brew, the Chamber's annual FUNd-raising event, back better than ever after two years in quarantine due to covid, sort of. Twenty-twenty's Brix & Brew was held remotely with an online auction and meal packages that could be taken home, and 2021's Brix was canceled.

The event gets underway with Social Hour and Silent Auction bidding beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Fairgrounds Pavilion. The live auction, with some superlative items, starts at 7 p.m.

Come hungry because Chicken Bill's Café & Golf is catering, and there will be numerous varieties of wines from Walla Walla wineries and the Touchet Valley's Dumas Station and Red Band wineries. Chief Spring's Brew Pub will be pouring the beer.

"We're thrilled to be having in-person live and silent auctions, and Columbia County Fairgrounds Pavilion, and we're excited to see all our friends and businesses out having a great time and supporting the Chamber," said event chairperson Anne Walsh,

If Waikiki Beach is your dream, then wake up and bid on a week-long vacation package to Hawaii, courtesy of Bette Lou Crothers. If wine tasting or spirits are what you enjoy, the Chamber is offering the winning bidder his or her choice of a three-day private guided tour of Napa Valley wine country, or Kentucky whisky touring. (Airfare not included.)

Closer to home, bid on two nights at the Coeur d'Alene Resort, $100 a day dining credit included. Closer yet is a buy-one, get-one deal from Beamer's Hells Canyon Tours, a day-long jet boat excursion up the Snake River. Includes two nights' accommodations and dinner in Clarkston.

Chamber organizers have some fun events planned. "Spin the Bottle" will have a winner every time, but the wine bottles are disguised so the winner could get a $100 wine, or a $20 wine. Be one of 25 purchasers of the "Golden Ticket" for $100, and that winner may choose any auction item, save the Hawaii and Napa/Kentucky travel packages.

The Private Reserve Sponsor is Pacific Power. Vintner Reserve Sponsor is Columbia REA, and the Premier Reserve Sponsors are McDonald-Zaring Insurance and Portland General Electric. The Raffle Sponsor is Puget Sound Energy, Reserve Sponsor is Banner Bank, Table Sponsor is Columbia County Health System, and Barrel Sponsors are Inland Cellular and Obenland & Low Insurance.

Chicken Bill's Café & Golf will be serving Beer Brined Chicken Wings with sweet Buffalo sauce, Carolina Pulled Pork Sliders, broccoli salad, Teresa's cole slaw, and assorted vegetable, fresh fruit and smoked cheese trays. Dessert will be courtesy of Mama Monacelli's Kitchen chocolates and mixed nuts.
