WAITSBURG–The Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack went into Spring Vacation smarting a bit after being spanked by Kittitas/Thorpe in a double header here April 2. The Coyotes won 11-0 and 10-0.

DW was in the midst of a bottom-of-the-seventh rally with the White Swan on March 29 when the Cougars got the third out, ending the game with a 13-11 win.

When DW returns to the diamond next, it will be a Saturday, April 16 double-bill with River View on the home field.

The Wolfpack is 0-2 in league, 0-6 overall.

The Kittitas/Thorpe Coyotes smacked the hide off the ball in the April 2 opener, rattling 14 hits and pushing 10 runs across for the five-inning win.

Pitcher C. Coles held DW to one hit, a poke by Evan Allen that left Allen stranded. Dylan Bledsoe started on the mound and was relieved by Klint Kuykendall in the fourth.

DW committed two errors and K/T played flawless ball with zero errors.

In the second game, DW counted four hits but were again overwhelmed by K/T's 15 hits and 11 runs. Keon Lindley, Zach Durham, Dylan Bledsoe and Kaedance McCauley counted DW's hits.

White Swan visited March 29 and squeaked by DW 13-11 as the Wolfpack was working on a seventh-inning rally but got caught short.

DW jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first, gave it up when the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the second, but grabbed it back 5-2 after two innings.

White Swan scored in the third for a 7-5 lead, but DW came back to knot it 7-7, and went ahead 8-7 after four innings.

The Cougars scored three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh, leading 13-8 going into the final half frame.

DW scored three runs and had a man on base with the tying run at the plate when White Swan made the third out.

"It was a really good competitive effort from the boys," commented Head Coach Greg Crenshaw.

Both teams used numerous pitchers in the hit fest, where the Cougars counted 17 hits and DW totaled 14.

Jasper Morrow started for DW, was relieved by Levi Boudrieau in the fifth, with Kuykendall coming in in the seventh. Morrow gave up nine hits, struck out four and walked one. Boudrieu allowed four hits, struck out two and walked six. Kuykendall was hit four times and walked one.

Kuykendall and Yutzy led Wolfpack batters with three hits, and Balian Walter and Lindley each rapped a pair.
