RICHLAND–There were a passel of personal bests by Dayton-Waitsburg Track here April 2 as Wolfpack Track was one of 13 schools from 2B through 4A competing at the Fourth Annual Clay Lewis Invitational at Hanford High School. DW track also competed at River View March 31 in Finley.

"When you go to a huge meet with a bunch of 3A and 4A schools, you don't worry about placing, especially when you've had a tough training week and a meet two days before," commented Head Coach Dan Nechodom. "Our athletes got another training stimulus and the opportunity to practice the preparation and maintenance required for a full day of competition."

Both Alex Dahlby and Cedar Stegall set personal records, Nechodom said. Dahlby ran the 1600 m. and threw the discus and javelin. Stegall PR'd in the discus and 100 m.

At River View last week, DW traveled with nearly the entire team, with several athletes posting personal records, Nechodom said.

"It was fun to watch Tony Halvorson and Alex Dahlby run the 1600 for the first time," Nechodom said. "They went out with maybe a little too much exuberance, but held on for times that were higher than what they thought they could do.

"Vaughn Walter posted a big PR in the Javelin, tossing it 14 feet past his previous mark to 102-11," he said.
