DAYTON–Commencement exercises for the Dayton High School Class of 2022 will see 15 graduates walking to receive diplomas in the Dayton Gymnasium on June 4. Ceremonies begin at 1 p.m.

Valedictorian of the class is Sagelyn Kilts, daughter of Kyle and Ashley Kilts of Dayton, and Salutatorian is Aria Woodend, the daughter Sarah Schoen and Frank Hallet of Dayton. Both Kilts and Woodend will speak at D.H.S. Commencement.

Baccalaureate Service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Faith Chapel. Senior class members will parade from the Best Western down Main Street to the church beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Members of the graduating class include Trinity Lynn Anderson, Dylan Duane Bledsoe, Julia Verna Brooks, Tristian Zachery Cush, Mackenzie Faith, Jesse James Gant, Eloy Garcia-Romero, Elaina Giavonna Gembala, Sagelyn Kilts, Ella Rhae Larson, Rebecca Camille Milsten, Mckenzie Evan Schmidt, Mikel David Thomas Vance, Trista Eliana Villaro and Aria L.M. Woodend.

Valedictorian Sagelyn "Sage" Kilts is a life-long resident of Dayton who has participated in a number of clubs, organizations and activities, including 4-H, Dayton Swim Team, FFA, National Honor Society and D.H.S. Associated Student Body. Other activities include Knowledge Bowl and Community Theater.

This year Kilts was also president of both the FFA chapter and the Honor Society, as well as serving as Vice President of the ASB.

Kilts played basketball during her four years in high school and also three years in middle school.

She is headed to Montana State University to study Environmental Design.

Salutatorian Aria Woodend has been active in Pep Band, been a leader of the Color Guard, served as vice president of the National Honor Society and as ASB secretary.

She was named Student of the Month numerous times, and was also named Star Student by KLEW in Lewiston.

Woodend has received the Regent's Scholarship at WSU where she will seek a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is also the recipient of a Washington State Opportunities Scholarship.

She also has a small business selling art. She has offered her services as an artist at a booth during All Wheels Weekend, working in water color and acrylic.
