Officers of the Dayton Eagles Auxiliary resorted to holding a rummage sale as a fund raiser when their long-time event, Jimmy Durante Day, wasn't possible this year. With the proceeds from the sale of items donated by members and other yard sales around town, the Auxiliary was able to present a check of $851.51 to the Columbia County 4-H Endowment Fund. An additional donation recipient of the Dayton Eagles Auxiliary was assistance to prospective farrier Junior Magill, a Dayton High School junior who is planning to attend an eight-week farrier program at Oklahoma State University this summer. Magill received a $1,500 check from Vickie Overholt, Eagles Auxiliary Incoming President, which will go toward the farrier tools needed in the program. Magill and his family were present for the check presentation, from left: Rozlyn Magill, Tammy Magill, Sy Magill, Eagles Auxiliary Outgoing President Linda Zavala, Junior Magill, Vickie Overholt and Tyla Magill. Upon completion of the eight-week program in Oklahoma this summer, Magill will be a certified farrier, and he plans to work with local farriers to build experience and then start his own business.
